Can old jewellery have hidden weaknesses?
Yes. Worn claws, thin metal, old solder joints, previous repairs, porosity, stone damage and metal fatigue may only become apparent during repair. Gold Factory will use reasonable care and explain significant additional work where required.
Can you make old jewellery look new again?
Often yes. Cleaning, polishing, plating, repair, stone work and restoration can significantly improve the appearance, depending on the condition and design.
Can you quote a repair exactly from a photograph?
A photo can help provide initial guidance, but an exact price may require physical inspection because hidden damage can only become clear in the workshop.
Can you restore antique jewellery?
Yes. Gold Factory undertakes antique jewellery work and restoration, subject to inspection and the condition of the item.
Do repairs come with a fixed guarantee?
There is no fixed additional Gold Factory workmanship guarantee. Statutory rights that apply to services are unaffected.
Do you charge to inspect a repair?
No. Gold Factory does not charge for the initial repair assessment or quotation.
Do you laser weld jewellery?
Yes. Gold Factory offers laser-welding services where suitable for the item.
Do you offer same-day repairs?
No. Repair times depend on the item and the work required.
Do you polish jewellery?
Yes. Gold Factory offers a paid polishing service to restore the appearance of old or worn jewellery.
Do you repair broken clasps?
Yes, subject to inspection and availability of suitable components.
Do you repair chains?
Yes, including suitable chain soldering and related repairs after assessment.
Do you repair claws or re-tip settings?
Yes. Claw work and re-tipping can be carried out where appropriate after inspection.

Yes, where technically possible. The price depends on the ring and the work required.

How long does a repair take?
Turnaround varies according to the repair, complexity, parts and workshop workload. Gold Factory will give an estimate after assessment.
Is the first ring resize free?
No blanket free-resize promise applies. Whether a resize is possible and what it costs depends on the item and work required.
Submit & Track a Repair
Can I submit a repair online?
Yes. Submit a Repair allows the customer to provide their details, jewellery information, the problem or requested work, photographs, an optional video and relevant notes.
Can I track a repair online?
Yes. Track My Repair shows the progress of your repair using your repair reference and the required verification information.
Do I receive a repair reference after submitting online?
Yes. An online repair submission generates a repair reference for tracking and communication.
What repair stages can the tracker show?
The repair tracker can show stages including Submitted, Received, Assessed, Quote, Awaiting Approval, Workshop, QC, Ready and Completed.
