Yes. A snapped chain, a ring that has lost its stone, an earring with no partner: the gold in them is worth the same as gold in a perfect piece of the same weight and purity.

Do not throw away the small parts. Clasps, jump rings and broken links are still metal and still count.

Before we treat anything as scrap we look at whether it is worth repairing or remodelling instead, which sometimes leaves you better off.
