CAD Design & 3D Scan Technology

From a simple idea to a stunning masterpiece, we create bespoke jewellery with advanced CAD design and 3D scanning technology. Precision. Detail. Perfection.

The same 3D design work is behind our 3D photo pendants and our custom grillz.

CAD is part of a confirmed bespoke order

We do not treat CAD as an unlimited free design service. CAD work normally begins after the bespoke order is agreed and the required minimum 50% deposit has been paid.

What Is Jewellery CAD?

Computer-aided design allows us to build a three-dimensional digital model of a jewellery design before the piece is manufactured. It is especially useful when proportions, stone positions, setting geometry and fit need to be considered together.

A CAD model can make it easier for a customer to understand the design than a technical sketch alone. It also provides a manufacturing reference for processes such as model making, casting and precision stone setting.

What CAD Can Help You Decide

Not every visual property of the finished piece can be judged perfectly from a screen render. Metal colour, polish, texture, stone brilliance and hand finishing can appear different in real life.

From CAD to Finished Jewellery

Once you approve the design, the CAD is used as the basis for manufacture. The precise production route depends on the piece and may involve printed or milled models, casting, assembly, hand finishing, stone setting, polishing and hallmarking where required.

Jewellery is a physical manufactured object, not a pixel-perfect copy of a computer image. Small practical adjustments can be required during production for strength, setting security or finishing. Material changes would be discussed where appropriate.

Changes and Approval

We encourage customers to raise design questions before approving the CAD. Once a design has been approved and manufacturing has started, changes can mean remodelling, remanufacture or additional labour and may therefore carry extra cost and extend the lead time.

The number and nature of design changes depends on the project. We do not promise unlimited revisions because substantial redesign is different from refining a detail within the agreed brief.

CAD Weight Is an Estimate

CAD software can estimate metal volume and weight, but the actual finished jewellery weight can vary because of casting, polishing, hand finishing, stone setting and manufacturing tolerances.

For made-to-order Gold Factory jewellery, an approximate ±5% manufacturing tolerance applies. The final price is adjusted if the final chargeable weight is lower or higher than the estimated weight used for the order.

CAD for Engagement and Wedding Rings

CAD is particularly valuable for bespoke engagement rings and wedding bands. We can model the setting around a chosen diamond, create a shaped wedding band around an existing engagement ring, or develop matching rings as part of one design process.

Frequently Asked Questions

CAD work normally begins after the bespoke order is confirmed and the required minimum 50% deposit is paid.

Yes, changes can be discussed before approval. Substantial redesign or changes after approval may affect cost and lead time.

Yes, subject to inspecting or accurately measuring the existing ring and agreeing the design.

It shows the design and proportions, but screen renders cannot perfectly reproduce real metal colour, polish or diamond brilliance.

No. It is an estimate. Made-to-order jewellery has an approximate ±5% manufacturing tolerance and the final chargeable weight is used for the final price adjustment.
